The one with the idea…

It all started one day in May 2023 when driving through Wroxham and seeing an empty shop, the idea hit like a lightening bolt! That shop would make an amazing SUP shop. After the initial idea we started looking into what was around, we couldn’t find anywhere in Norfolk where you could go to look at a good selection of paddle boards, get wetsuits and PFD’s, good advice and actually get out on the water the same day.

We called the number for the shop, but an initial look around soon made us realise we needed height - some of the stand up paddle boards are HUGE! and a rented shop with an 8 foot ceiling just wasn’t going to cut it. Plan B.

The more we researched and looked into things, we more we realised Norfolk needed a paddle board shop.

We travelled around the country in search of something close to our vision, we spent time talking to shop owners, figuring out the best paddle boards, how they’re made, understanding different construction methods, what sizes and widths of paddle boards mean for stability, glide and most importantly, how to match each individual with the right board.

During this time we tested a huge amount of brands, making sure we took people on the water from all abilities and age groups. Narrowing our stock list down to the brands we knew would be really loved and enjoyed.

Once we’d got everything we needed we anxiously applied to the bank in hope that they’d loan us enough money to get our business up and running, they granted us half of what we wanted. But it was just enough.

We found a property we really thought could work, it had height, space and enough light to be amazing, parking and if anything was even bigger than what we needed and waited and waited for things to progress…..
